attended the 2015 C-BOF Christian Rally in Quartzsite, Arizona

We attended the 2015 C-BOF Christian Rally in Quartzsite, Arizona. C-BOF stands for "Certified Birds of a Feather". The name "BOF" (Birds of a Feather" the Escapees RV club uses for groups.

We arrived on Saturday January 10th at the start of the Quartzsite Rally after filling our tanks with fresh water in town. We found the sign indicating where our group was located on Plomosa road.

We parked with our group about 6 miles North of town in the desert. There was 25 RV's for a total of 47 people in our group for the week long rally.

The first evening we had a sunset BBQ hamburger dinner followed by a campfire with a marshmallow roasting competition. I did not bring marshmallows to roast but I did consume some of the trial runs of some of the roasters. A couple people found giant marshmallows at Walmart. They are about 4 or 5 times larger than a regular marshmallow. They are great after being roasted and then you peel the roasted brown part off and then continue to roast the rest of the marshmallow. You can do this peel off and re-roast about 3 or 4 times before you consume the whole marshmallow. Yummy!

Each day we had daily devotions at 9:30am with our rally theme being "Waiting on the Lord"

Sunday evening we a Supper 6 outside with the new friends Steve & Nancy O'Bosky and Richard & Brenda Crosby that are with Volunteer Christian Builders. We had 12 bean soup outside the O'Bosky's motorhome.

On Monday the 12th we had a sunset Hot Dog and campfire.

Some people went off to play mexican train but we invited some new friends Dewayne & Patti Cartwright over to our RV to watch the movie "God's Not Dead" We had all seen the movie sometime in 2014 but we all enjoyed seeing it again.

On Tuesday we started the day off with a Invitation Breakfast at our RV. We had invited Bruce & Lynn Jarretts and got to know them over breakfast. Sue and Lynn had a lot to talk about and sharing healthy recipes. We then all went on a hike led by Nancy O. of about 5 miles. Nancy had promised us that we would not see any snakes and she was correct as they are still hibernating. We closed the day with another sunset fire and testimonies.

Wednesday was a free day so we went with new friends Keith & RuthAnn Linnabary to a farmers market, walked around at flea markets, had lunch in a vendor tent and then went to the Escapees happy hour from 1:00pm until 3:00pm.  We had a sunset campfire with everyone bringing brownies and whip cream. More Yummy!

Thursday we again attended the Escapees happy hour from 1:00pm until 3:00pm looking for some friends from our Illinois SKP chapter of the escapees. We found Val & Lou Petkus that live in Batavia, Illinois. It was fun catching up with them. We then had a sunset potluck and another campfire.

Friday we had a biscuits and gravy out reach breakfast where we invited the Solo's BOF (Single RV'ers group) to join us. Our Christian C-BOF has been  inviting them over for the last 8 years as an outreach and to build bridges with that group.

We then had a yearly annual business meeting where we elected new officers. We ended the day with a sunset campfire and the sharing of peoples plans for serving during the next year.

The rally was over but then the main Quartzsite event started on Saturday with 100's of vendors selling RV related items and many other vendors selling anything else that you might find at a flea market. You could spend several days trying to see everything. It was that big.

Our group picture on the last day of the rally.

We made some great friends and we will see many of them again at a rolling rally we will be attending in the middle of February and at the Escapees Escapade in Tucson in March.

  1. Must be interesting camping out in the desert! It would seem lonely without all those people around.
