explored the Redwoods in Crescent City California area.

On Sunday we left southern Oregon and crossed over to northern California where it will be our state of residence for the next 3 months. No other time, other that our 10 months in Venezuela, will we spend so much time out of Illinois and in another state. Shortly after we entered California we began to see the huge Redwoods. We took an hour drive on a dirt road through  Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park. I was not sure if our truck would fit through these trees with our big camper mirrors but we just made it through.

We stayed in the Crescent City Area at Village Camper Inn campground.

There were even Redwoods in this private campground. You can see Sue standing near a tree at the bottom left.

We tried to take a visit to the Marine Mammal Rescue Center but it was closed the day we arrived.

There was one seal pub outside in the fenced in area that had been attacked by a shark. He seemed to be pretty nervous.

We then parked and went out on the city park pier and then we walked over to see the lighthouse.

It is only open on weekends for tours.

The next day we took a short trip to the beach area just south of Crescent City and put our chairs out to enjoy some sun.
