We were not sure if we wanted to take a trip here but after spending the afternoon here and taking in all the views and doing some hiking we were so glad we did. We were very surprised at all there was to see here.
There are actually 3 different type of volcanoes here at this National park. Over half of the park is only accessible by back packing. With no roads near by it was so very quiet. All you could hear is nature.
I would love, love, love, to back pack in here and stay a couple nights. I am also sure the views of the night sky would be fantastic. If anyone would like to back pack here, let me know. Sue told me she is not interested in back packing.
We hiked around this entire lake. It was so peaceful and we had the trail to ourselves.
Every few minutes as we drove thru this park there was another beautiful view.
I asked Sue if she wanted to have a snow ball fight but she said she forgot her gloves.
We reached the top of summit at 8511 feet.
There are hydro-thermal areas in parts of this park too. You can see the steam from the steam vents.
Bubbling hot mud pits and you could smell the sulfur from the steam vents.
We were so glad we made this day trip.
