worked on a volunteer project at Stanfield Baptist Church - part 2

Part - 2

Below are some more pictures of us eating breakfast before our morning devotions or at lunch, together as a group. We sure like to eat well, of course hard work made us extra hungry.

One of the woman (Mary) prepared poppers for us. They were so good.

On Saturday afternoon, some of our group had extra energy and decided to do some salsa dancing in the parking lot by the rv's. Who said old people can't dance?

The pastor of the church and the small congregation were quite over whelmed at the amount of work we got done for the week. They decided to prepare a meal for us on Friday evening. They prepared a very nice BBQ meal for us as a way of saying "Thank you".

Our Christian group's new president below (George with his wife Mary) is a retired pastor and offered to lead the Wednesday evening prayer group and Sunday morning service to give the Stanfield pastor a couple days off.

We all attended the Sunday morning church service. Below is one of our couples (Bruce & Lynn) leading us in singing before the message.

There were 3 couples that left before the weekend for other obligations but here is our remaining group with most of the congregation after the church service standing for a picture.

And of course like most of Arizona, we once again saw some beautiful sunsets across the street from the church each evening. I wish our camera was better at taking these pictures because most of the colors we saw do not turn out in these pictures.

We left Stanfield Arizona Monday morning for Kartchner Caverns State Park, the next stop on our rolling rally.

  1. Wow I'm glad you guys were able to do all that work for that church! I'm sure they were so appreciative. I hope you guys come by my church for a few weeks this summer. We'll put you to work. ;)

  2. What a great ministry. So only 10 people attend the church regularly? Wow!

  3. Yes Kim, it is a really small congregation. The pastor said that on some Sundays they may get just $37 dollars in the collection plate. The pastor, a retired electric lineman, his wife and son I am sure do not even get a salary. They also have a farm they must work each day.
Our work group donated $240 dollars in remodeling expenses while we worked the project and then we gave them almost $600 dollars in offering we took in among ourselves. Like I said, they were overwhelmed and they felt blessed and encouraged.
Their church is a light in their small community as they also operate a food bank at the church as well a monthly free medical clinic for the community. Wow! what an outreach they have.
