Wildflower Ridge Alpaca Ranch

Yesterday morning we made a reservation for a tour of the Wildflower Ridge Alpaca Ranch near Fredericksburg Texas. Alpacas are related to camels and are raised primarily for their fiber coats. They are so cute.

Sue is feeding them their daily cup of grain.
They eat mostly grasses in their pasture.

Wouldn't you want one of these?
They are very gentle.
They get sheared just once a year in the spring and their coat is placed in bags to be cleaned and carded.
At the ranch, they sell items that are made from the Alpaca fiber from their Alpacas.
The fiber is so very soft.

We were at the ranch for almost 2 hours and we had a lot of fun and learned a lot about Alpacas.

  1. They look pretty cuddly! We have an alpaca rug that Kent got from Peru. It is very soft! Mom, it's nice that you fed them from a cup. We used to go to Bee City in SC and you had to feed the animals out of your hands, and their big tongues slobbered all over your hand, I wasn't crazy about that!
